[As he spots the person, he's at least relieved to recognize her. There are worse people he could have to deal with like this.]

[Approaching her, he nods in greeting... then, looking a little awkward about it, reaches out to take careful hold of her hand, ready to pull away if at any point she looks like she's... you know, more uncomfortable than her baseline.]

Flowers, mostly. I think I'd lie to plant a lot of roses... I'm not sure why, but I like them most of all. [She smiles gently, and then looks to him hopefully] Do you have a flower or something you like, Mr. Hijikata? I can try to plant some of them too.

I like them in general. Flowering plum trees are one of my favorites, though.
