[Well, she's wearing a big hat, so maybe she won't notice...

Attempting to be stealthy, Add creeps up behind her and tries to give her a very gentle pat on the... uh, hat. That's close enough to a pat on the head? Please don't turn around.]

[She would be a poor god indeed, if she went centuries wearing this veiled hat without learning how to still perceive her surroundings. (Just be glad her shinki isn't there or you'd be detained without reaching your goal.)

At seeing something come close from the corner of her eye, she turns just as Add pats her on the head.]

[Suijin isn't quite as good a bet as Bishamon in terms of old gods who could definitely pick him up, but Shun doesn't really weigh all that much and he doubts Suijin's power is all mystical and magical. So since he's trying to find the people who'd make the smallest deals about this and she's hanging around, he figures it's worth a shot.]

This is going to sound completely ridiculous, but... [With an annoyed sigh, he lets himself finish.] ...I need you to pick me up.

[She can't help but smile at how blunt he is.]

You're right, Kurosaki. It does sound rather ridiculous.

[Thank whatever god has domain over this that Suijin knows this is part of the dumb game. Still looking less than impressed, Shun gives her a short nod.]

Unfortunately, yes. I figured I'd rather go to someone who wouldn't make a big deal out of it.

[Well, he is certainly not wrong about that. Her red lips turn up in a smile as she steps forward.]

Very well. I shall help you complete your task, then.

[He is almost the same height as her, so she pauses a moment as she considers how to 'pick him up'.
She decides that bending slightly and lifting him by hugging him around the waist should be sufficient.]

[Given Shun's picking up method of choice tends to be slinging people over his shoulder, he's prepared not to be choosy where this is concerned. He wants it over with as little fuss as possible, and when Suijin asks her question, he just inclines his head.]

Of course. [He's likely to tense up when she actually makes contact, but that's just a reflexive thing. There's not a lot he can do about that.]

[So without further ado, she bends down slightly, sweeps her long kimono sleeves out of the way, grasps him gently but tightly around the waist, and lifts his feet from the ground.

As this puts their faces rather close together despite the veil, she looks away over his shoulder as she counts slowly and evenly to three, her expression carefully blank. She then sets him down again.]

That should be long enough?

[It hadn't entirely occured to Shun the position he'd end up in with that choice of lifting technique, and though he's a little too proud to turn his head away from her, his gaze unfocuses a little. It's more like he's looking through her than at her, and his expression is just as blank (if still a little frustrated he even had to do this at all) as hers.

When she puts him down, he nods again, smoothing out his coat slightly.]

That's fine. I don't know why anyone bothered asking for that in the first place.

If you cannot think of a reason, I have even less of a chance of imagining one.

[She admits that with a small smile. It does seem rather pointless.]

Hopefully any further challenges you get are more interesting than that.

[Shun concedes that point with a low hiss.] True. I'm not sure why you'd even choose to get involved in the first place.

[He's not particularly reassured by most of what he's seen today, though, and he gives her half a shrug.]

Most of what people have approached me for is just as ridiculous. I'm not counting on it getting any better.

[Folding her arms she asks consideringly,]

If you can choose to join at any time, can you not chose to quit at any time as well?

In theory, but most people consider stepping down from this sort of thing a sign that you're too cowardly to do what's asked. If it's just stupid but harmless enough, there's no real point to stepping out.

[Because that just invites even more stupidity he'd really rather not have to deal with.]

[Suijin's painted red lips turn up in a faint grin.
Quitting rather is out of the question then, isn't it. For herself, she would have stuck it out even without knowing this.]

You're right. It is harmless enough, if still pointless and ridiculous.

[In any case, Shun figures they both have better things to do than prolong this game any longer than necessary, so he nods to Suijin before turning away, glancing at her over his shoulder.]

I suppose we might see each other again today. At least we can both hope this'll be short.

[Suijin raises a hand to thoughtfully cover her small smile.]
