Stuck in a Box Meme

He can't be too upset about it, though, or about it not working, because he's much too distracted by how close Shun has gotten in the process and the various ways and places hey're touching. It's definitely a little uncomfortable to be leaning back like this and to have Shun draped over him so awkwardly, and a completely different sort of uncomfortable for him to still be breathing against his neck like that. And it's completely unfair that Shun doesn't even seem to care.
It still seems like Shun is going to be the one feeling the most uncomfortable if they stay like this, though, so Ren tries wiggling a little himself and pushing up on on Shun's arms and chest to see how much of Shun's weight is really leaning on him.]
Maybe if I help you get your balance and you try scooting under me... [Ah, that's no good, he's starting to sound deeper and out of breath. Not that that's much different than how he sounds half the time while they're sparring.]
no subject
One thing Ren will get, though, is the quiet, sharp hiss against his neck at the motion, not unlike the kind of reaction one might give to a minor injury, even if the only thing being particularly injured right now is Shun's pride.
The attempt to push up against his arms and chest will probably demonstrate the problem immediately - the vast majority of Shun's weight is on Ren now because of how he shifted it for that kick. Though Shun's clearly shifting himself and trying to move somewhere he's not leaning on him so hard, he can't manage it like this.]
That's easier said than done. [And...while Shun's definitely heard that tone from Ren before during sparring, this definitely isn't sparring. While it might not be cause for concern so much, then, Shun's head definitely turns a bit further into Ren's neck as he tries to get any kind of look at his face.] And you already sound like you're having trouble with something.
no subject
Unfortunately, he does seem to be right that this is easier said than done. He's completely off balance, and there's barely any room to maneuver in here...even if he did manage to push Shun off, he'd just be pushing him into the roof, and trying to move his arms is just going to throw him more off balance--
He makes a faintly surprised noise of his own as Shun's face ends up pressed even more against his neck and just stops moving entirely. He should have known Shun would pick up on that. The question here is how honest he should be about what the trouble is exactly...]
It's just that having you this close is making it difficult to concentrate on anything but you. Especially when you're saying things like "spread your legs"...
[...and is that blunt enough for him to get it.]
no subject
It might be a good thing that Shun's position makes his face practically impossible to see right now, though, because there is actually a limit to how dense he can be about matters of intimacy, and the way Ren puts that statement is definitely blunt enough to surpass it. There's a few moments where Shun very obviously freezes, trying to figure out how he's supposed to react to that, but in that time, his expression is possibly more akin to panic than anyone in this place is likely to have seen him before. This is not an area he has any kind of experience in besides occasional arguments on the network - and he wonders if he would have even recognised Ren's remark so easily had he not recently had an argument about almost this exact thing with someone anonymous on the BBS.
When he speaks again, his tone is delicate, like he's very much having to figure out what to say here. Depending on how much attention Ren is paying to Shun's current contact with his neck, he might be able to tell that the skin touching his has gotten quite a bit warmer in those few moments, because Shun's often remarkable self-control doesn't extend to being able to somehow stop his face flushing.]
I didn't think you'd take it like that. [Which...well, it is Ren, but Shun also hadn't considered the possibility of anyone wanting to wilfully misinterpret a comment like that from him. There's a hesitation before he goes on, and the shift of Shun's throat marks a somewhat awkward swallow in that time. He's definitely starting to regret some of his wording on that post, because suddenly being stuck in quarters this close with Ren has gotten even more distracting than it already was.] ...You can't be that distracted just because it's me.
[Well, he can, in theory, but Shun's having trouble believing that would be the case. Even so, he sounds a little uncertain himself.]
no subject
In fact, maybe he was too blunt. It's a pity he can't really see Shun's face right now, but the rest of his reaction says plenty. He probably looks so alarmed it's cute, but as much as Ren would like to move to a more comfortable position for this, he's careful not to move at all yet, just so Shun won't be more alarmed. He's also careful not to sound like he's too amused by it, although he smiling quite a bit where Shun can't see it.]
It's because it's you that I am distracted. I'm always distracted around you.
[In fact, it's amazing it took him so long to recognize that the reason he got to distracted around Shun was the same as with Kai or Aichi, because it really was remarkably similar, but what matters now is that he did figure it out in the end. Of course, if he hadn't already, he sure would have figured it out now...]
Anyway, I didn't take it that way, but that doesn't mean I don't know what it would sound like to someone else. For the record, you probably shouldn't say that to someone else.
no subject
It's not like I try to be. [Then again, that's probably just condemning him more here. If he's not trying to be distracting, and Ren's distracted anyway, then that kind of speaks for itself.
As for the matter of his wording earlier...well, he hadn't been entirely unaware of the connotations of the phrase, but he'd trusted Ren would take it in its intended form.]
I doubt I would anyway. [He sounds a little less wrong-footed by this point, and seems to be maybe getting a better hold on his reactions right now.
However, before he can even make the mistake of thinking they might get out of this sooner rather than later, the box, with absolutely no warning, rolls to one side, and then does so again. While the sudden, violent motions serve to knock Shun out of the jammed position he'd been in, he's now the one underneath here, and without the advantage of being able to hide his face.
While the annoyance of the box rolling over distracts him briefly as he lets out a hiss of pain, his face is definitely still very pink, and as soon as he realises their positions have changed enough to make him more visible, that look of frustration immediately vanishes in the wake of something more open and thrown off.
Depending on where Ren's hands land, the increase in his heart rate might be rather obvious, even if Shun's still hoping he doesn't notice.]
no subject
And if he thought he was aware before of every little place they were touching, it's nothing compared to now with Shun lying under him and his heart speeding up under his fingers and the look on his face that's just as cute as he'd hoped.]
Are you okay? [That's definitely his next concern, since that had been so sudden and he'd heard that hiss of pain. He sounds like he's lost his breath again, and there's actually a tiny bit of pink on his face too, if Shun can even see that much of his face through his curtain of hair.] I guess the box didn't like that you kicked it.
no subject
It doesn't, and it's that which makes him grit his teeth a little and look away. He still looks more awkward than anything, because he can't tell why that pace is keeping up - his first assumption would otherwise be fear, but it doesn't fit the situation.]
I'm fine. [That answer comes almost automatically, despite his embarrassment.] It should've complained earlier if that was it.
[At this point, he's just going along with the weirdness of Ren's suggestion, because it takes less of his focus than arguing the point. A moment or two later, however, he chances a glance up...and though he can't see a great deal of Ren's face, it does look like he's not handling this altogether better than Shun is.
Wriggling one of his arms out of where it got squashed into during the roll, Shun goes to push Ren's hair up out of his face with a spirited attempt at a serious frown.]
You don't get out of being embarrassed if I have to be as well.
no subject
It's going to take a lot more than this for me to be embarrassed.
[He even (reluctantly) takes his hand away from Shun's chest to help tuck his hair behind an ear--just on one side, so Shun can keep messing with his hair on the other. And maybe he is feeling a teeny tiny bit awkward and that's why he's a little pink and it's not just because he's turned on, but he's definitely going to deny it if that's the case.
What probably also doesn't help his case is the way he starts shifting to get a little more comfortable and then abruptly stops as he realizes it's even more awkward to do that now with they way they landed. So he just settles for putting his hand back down on Shun's chest for balance and leaves it at that for now.]
I didn't think it would be so easy to embarrass you, but it's pretty cute.
no subject
Watching as Ren only tucks the one side of his hair behind his ear, Shun raises a brow at him slightly, but decides after a moment that it's probably intentional. He admittedly hasn't paid a great deal of attention to Ren's hair before when he's been grabbing it, mostly because all those occasions have been instances of dirty fighting during their training, and he slowly draws his hand down one of the long forelocks. It feels...nice, he supposes, running against his fingers like that.
When Ren starts moving again, Shun grimaces a bit as he prepares for more embarrassment, but thankfully he stops soon enough to make it negligible. Predictably enough, the remark that follows it up gets a rather filthy look from Shun, because he's still not fond of the idea of being that easy to humiliate.]
This isn't something I'm used to. You of all people should know that. [What with his opinions regarding one of Ren's godly domains being romance. Ren's obvious determination to stay in control of his own reactions only proves a motivator to Shun to get hold of his own, though, and while he's not overly familiar with this kind of situation, he at least knows what Ren in particular is fond of.
So, in a deceptively gentle motion, he reaches up with the hand not in Ren's hair to hold his wrist, not unlike what he did leading him out of the fire.
And then a moment later, the grip of both his hands tightens abruptly. He makes a harsh motion in an attempt to pull Ren's hand into a pin against the side of the box, but whether that succeeds or fails doesn't concern him so much. It's the sharp tug downward on Ren's hair, intended to put their faces close enough that hopefully Shun's narrowed eyes outweigh the lingering flush, that's where the real message lies.]
But you should also know better than to say something about it taking more than that in front of me. [This is his attempt to retake control of the situation, and his tone is low and level enough to make it convincing.]
no subject
Admittedly, they're about to veer into territory that Ren is also not used to, no matter what domains he's supposed to have, and that does have the potential to be embarrassing. But his way of dealing with that is the same as any difficult situation: just keep charging ahead and hope it works out. And cute as Shun's embarrassment is, he is kind of hoping Shun can adopt a similar strategy soon.
He doesn't quite expect it to be this soon, though. The tugs at his wrist and hair take him completely off guard and Shun pulls him down easily, almost until their noses are touching and he can hardly look at Shuns eyes without feeling cross-eyed, much less any blushing.
But once the initial surprise has worn off, Ren narrows his own eyes and his lips curl in a predatory smile. Shun was cute enough before, but this is the Shun he likes best, the one who'd claw his way out of hell to be in control of a situation, and if he wants to play that game...]
Then you should be prepared to find out out just how much it's going to take.
[Spoilers: kissing isn't going to do it. In fact, almost before he's finished talking, Ren leans down the rest of the way to kiss him. This is probably the best opportunity he's going to have to do it, and having Shun pinned under him like this and obviously awkward because he's not used to it rather than because he's not interested makes it too tempting an opportunity to pass up.]
no subject
With Ren that close, though, Shun is alert for any movement before it happens, and he tightens his grip a little again as he comes forward right at the end of those words. There's a small, muffled noise of surprise as Ren's lips meet his, but he's not planning to be thrown off that easily again, and as soon as that one moment of shock passes, he pushes back against his mouth with far more teeth than have any business being in a kiss. At the same time, he winds his hand tighter into Ren's hair, trying to twist his head up a little to give him a bit more room to get him back. The other hand squeezes at Ren's wrist, pushing against the side of the confined space, keeping it out of the interaction for the moment.
Though it's a little awkward with how small the box is, Shun shifts his legs a little as well, this time aiming to tangle them with Ren's - but on his terms, and in a way intended to restrict his movement to give Shun some kind of balancing factor from being pinned under Ren. If he can't physically switch their positions, then he'll still do his best to reverse things from where he is.]
no subject
But he's not going to let Shun have any more control than that. As soon as he feels Shun start trying to move his legs, he starts shifting to try to stay ahead of him--mostly so Shun can't get him into a position like earlier where he has zero balance at all and they won't be able to move until the box decides to move again. Which for the moment just means trying to spread his legs as far as they'll go and keep them there.
Unfortunately for Shun, all that moving on both their parts accomplishes exactly what he was probably hoping to avoid. Ren hesitates for half a second the first time his lower half brushes against Shun's, but it was Shun who started this in the first place, so while he's not trying on purpose to do it again after that, he doesn't let it stop him when it does. Which gets more and more likely to happen the further apart he gets his legs.]
pops an nsfw warning on here just to be safe
While Shun might have been hoping Ren would stay still long enough for him to trap his legs, he almost would've been disappointed if it were that easy at this point. His breath definitely catches very obviously when they brush together below the waist like that, and he lets out a sharp hiss that's only thinly disguising a different sound entirely, but on the other hand, that in combination with Ren's continued parting of his legs gives him an idea, and a rather dark smile almost fit to match Ren's.
Since Ren's left himself so open, Shun instead brings his own legs together and worms them back a little, taking advantage of his position beneath Ren to first push upwards against Ren's thighs with his own, then use that leverage to get them under Ren's waist and hips and start pushing that upwards instead. It's in part to get his lower half far enough away from Shun's own to avoid further embarrassment on Shun's part...but then again, it's hard to say what Shun's planning to do next if he gets his legs beneath that area.]
ah yes good idea
Concentrating on that has made it difficult to keep concentrating on what's going on with their legs, other than noting that Shun seems very determined to make sure nothing untoward happens to him. It really makes Ren want to embarrass him even more, and he would if Shun didn't still have his other hand pinned like that. His legs definitely aren't in the right place to do it anymore either.
Shun's are, though, and Ren wriggles a bit to maybe try to keep him from getting up under him and unbalancing him completely, but mostly as a dare for him to go ahead and do it. If Shun really thinks that's going to embarrass him, he's going to be sorely disappointed]

One advantage of knowing someone who wears collars and has done for a very long time is that Shun knows what the safe width is meant to be, and he goes to slip two fingers up to the lower knuckle underneath Ren's own collar, lining them against the center of his throat as much as he can. The smallest curl of his fingers is enough to make those bones dig in, bringing a blunt pressure against where they're resting, and he pulls towards him a little as he tugs at Ren's lip with his teeth again. It's a little shorter-lived this time, though, if only because he follows it up with his tongue trying to push into his mouth instead. It feels like the natural escalation, and Shun's starting to figure out that actually thinking about it isn't going to help him any, so he goes with it.
What's going on below the waist is a somewhat different matter, though, and since Ren is only providing token resistance - if it wasn't for everything else about this situation being so distracting, Shun might be more suspect about that, but he just takes it for now - Shun takes the chance to keep pushing under. There's not a great deal of room, but Shun's taking as much advantage of it as he can, pressing Ren's hips up to the top of the box and bringing one of his legs up on top of a bent knee to fill the space beneath without having to hold himself in too awkward a position. The result is the top of his calf pressing up between Ren's legs, and Shun adjusts the arrangement of his own legs with a very deliberate slowness, given it means the upper one starts dragging back and forth across the point of contact.]
